HKABA-SA YPEG “Behind the Scenes Tour”

The Hong Kong Australian Business Association SA Chapter’s Young Professionals & Entrepreneur’s Group (YPEG)participated in a tour of the R Ceravolo & Co Pty Ltd ‘s operations in Ashton SA, on Saturday15th March 2014. 12 young passionate professionals, including committee member Frank Bueti, Ivy Xu, Sulei Gu, Jenny Cui, Jenny Che and Jim Stylianopoulos were in attendance.

As South Australia’s biggest family owned apple, pear & cherry grower, with South Australia’s biggest juicing facility, the Ceravolo family provided a great insight to their family business, and kindly prepared a lovely Italian lunch & afternoon tea. The group was shown the whole production process from the growing of the fruit, picking, quality controls, processing to packaging. Of interest was the apple selection process, whereby each apple was individually measured and photographed, then based on the percentage of the visible defects, the apple was either selected for sale or sent away for juicing.

The 12 young professional were also entertained with the on-site apple picking experience at Nairne. Fresh Juice & fruits were gifted by the generous Ceravolo family at the end of the tour. This is a very successful event, with positive feedback given by attendees throughout the tour.
